About Zanzibar Spice tours

DAY 1: After your breakfast from your hostel booked directly, we will pick you up and drive to Marangu gate. The climb starts at Marangu gate (1829m); followed by a 3-4 hours walk through the fast climbing rainforest to reach Mandara Hut (2700m), close by Maundi Crater. Dinner and overnight stay at Mandara hut! DAY 2: Morning after breakfast, trekking while the last glades of the forest are left behind, when we follow the gently ascending path through the open Alpine Meadow. The altitude begins to make you trek slowly: “pole pole” is the order of the day while enjoying the flora and the magnificent view. Picnic lunch on the way. Horombo Hut (3720m) is reached within 5-7 hours walking. Dinner and overnight in the Horombo hut. DAY 3: Morning after breakfast, start to acclimatize by walking up to Mawenzi hut via Zebra rocks. Enjoy a panoramic view of Kibo and Mawenzi peak 5149m. Then start descending back to Horombo Hut for the hot lunch. Dinner and overnight stay at Horombo Hut. 3720m. DAY 4: After a good night’s rest, we continue, past the last giant Lobelias and Protease, and move on the lunar landscape of the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi. Kibo Hut (4703m) is reached in 5-6 hours. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner and overnight in Kibo hut. DAY 5: A cup of coffee or tea at 2am, then you begin to climb for the summit. For about 4 hours you will be climbing the steepest and most demanding part, the route to Gilman’s Point – 5685m on the crater rim. Less than an hour is taken to reach Uhuru Peak which is 5895m, the highest point in Africa. Yes From here you descend straight down to Horombo Hut, where you’ll spend the night. DAY 6: After breakfast, you start descending to Marangu Gate. A waiting car will be there ready for transfer back to Arusha via Moshi town. End of the kili trek services
